Mack Wilberg is the Music Director of the Mormon Tabernacle Choir. He was previously appointed Associate Music Director of the Mormon Tabernacle Choir, and Conductor of the Temple Square Chorale in May 1999. Mack Wilberg is a former professor of music at Brigham Young University, where he received his bachelor's degree; his master's and doctoral degrees are from the University of Southern California. In addition to his conducting responsibilities he is active as a pianist, choral clinician, composer, arranger, and guest conductor throughout the United States and abroad. Requiem
For mezzo soprano and baritone soli, mixed choir, and orchestra
3[3+picc].2[2eh].2.2-4.0.0.0-cel/glk-hp.pno.org[opt]-str
Mack Wilberg, talented composer and arranger, has written a stunning Requiem, which was premiered by the Mormon Tabernacle Choir in April 2007 and has since been recorded by the choir, featuring eminent soloists Bryn Terfel and Frederica von Stade on the CD Requiem: The Choral Music of Mack Wilberg. In a style influenced by Vaughan Williams and Finzi, this work evokes a reflective and sometimes other worldly atmosphere. Wilberg organized the work into seven movements, some of which are sung in Latin and others are in English. The work lasts 40 minutes and is appropriate for any time of year.
