For each book in the A History of US series, there are TWO chapter-by-chapter Teacher Guides with 90 pages of discussion and writing ideas, historical background, and classroom activities. The Elementary Guides are geared for 5th and 6th grade teachers and the Middle School Guides are geared for 7th and 8th grade teachers.Blackline Masters

Assessment Guide
The 71 tests in the Assessment Guide have been designed around the goal of A History of US--understanding, not memorization. Each test consists of 15 multiple choice questions. A portion of the questions in each test assess knowledge of key facts and chronology. The balance require students to use critical thinking skills, such as making comparisons, synthesizing information, and drawing conclusions. Johns Hopkins University's Talent Development Middle School program developed a series of innovative lesson plans and resource books to accompany A History of US. Each volume offers more than 650 pages of additional material: historical background for the teacher; extensive primary sources; and student cooperative learning activities--featuring simulation and role playing, analysis of primary sources, group investigation, use of websites, reading secondary historical materials, and problem solving.
