Interpersonal Violence
INTERPERSONAL VIOLENCE
A New Book Series from Oxford University Press
Claire M. Renzetti, University of Dayton
Jeffrey L. Edleson, University of Minnesota
Interpersonal violence spans a broad sweep of relationships. It may include various forms of family or intimate violence, such as child maltreatment, woman battering, and elder abuse. It may more broadly include forms of community and school violence, such as gang violence, hate crimes, and mob behavior. It may also include state-sponsored violence, such as genocide, terrorism, war, and the use of rape as a weapon.
Books in the Series will focus on interpersonal violence in any of the aspects mentioned above. Books may examine the victims of violence, both primary and secondary, perpetrators of this violence, and/or the role of larger systems in intimate violence (e.g., the media, the criminal justice system, health care). Books in the Series may also focus on providing theoretical and/or empirical information on a specific topic, analyses of policies or legislation, or practical aspects of social intervention into interpersonal violence.
Books in the Series will provide researchers, clinicians, advocates, and policy makers with up-to-date material on all aspects of the problem of interpersonal violence. Particular efforts will be made to bring manuscripts by well-known authors and programs and by diverse voices from the field, including minority and international authors, to publication.
