Established: 1992. OUP Spain was launched primarily to handle the promotion and distribution of the ELT list in Spain, although it has also always carried a selection of titles from the UK Educational division and the Academic Division. OUP is the clear leader in the Spanish ELT market (the largest in the world for most ELT publishers), and it began to publish in Spanish for the other school subjects in 1996. As a valuable asset to the already comprehensive catalogue of publications in Spanish, in 2010 OUP Spain launched a collection of fiction for children and young adults in Spanish, Catalan and Galician, El Árbol de la Lectura.
